Have you heard about this?
A mother and father (I assume they aren't married) could not agree on whose last name to give their child so they went to family court to let the judge decide.
Interestingly, it wasn't the last name that proposed a problem for the judge. The baby's first name is Messiah. The judge decided that because that title is reserved only for Jesus Christ that they could not name their child Messiah, and she, the judge, changed the baby's name to Martin!
Yes, the judge actually took it upon herself to change the baby's name. Is that crazy or what?
And how is this possible?
Watching the news, I listened to the judge's explanation, and although it sounded like she was taking a stand for Jesus Christ, was she?
Jesus is The Messiah. The one and only. We already know that. The couple isn't claiming that the child is the Messiah. In this case it's simply a name. I don't think Jesus would have a problem with it.
Surfing through tv channels a couple of days ago I came across a VH1 reality show and stopped briefly to watch a cute kid dressed in a costume. His dad called out his name and guess what his name was? Messiah. (They better hide their kid from that judge.) It's actually a beautiful name. It's possible that the couple got the name from the VH1 reality show not aware of Jesus Christ being the Messiah.
Regardless, the judge is out of line, and it's shocking that it is legal for her to change the baby's name. The mother said she will fight the judge's decision, and in the meantime continue to call the baby Messiah.
